Lately I have seen several reproductions of the Johannes (Jan) Vermeer painting “Girl with a Pearl Earring” appearing in my deviant feed.
Since I am fond of this painting I figured I would try my hand at a modern “meta” derivative of this classic painting using Midjourney with the core concept being what would Vermeer have seen while trying to create his legendary masterpiece and subsequently what would his model have thought during the creation of the painting.
The “meta” part comes from the fact I wanted the girl to be standing in front of an empty painting to foreshadow the masterpiece’s future creation.
After a few prompt iterations on Midjourney I got several images I liked and then I did some editing and splicing in Photoshop to tie it all together.
I figured I would post the result here for fun...
