This (I think) is great.
Druids (in fantasy games and the like) are known for their attunement with nature and are often adorned in various bits and bobs that have symbolic meaning and a connection to the natural surroundings and as a result they avoid using man-made tools and weapons.
This captures that excellently.
A few points stick out nicely for me and I'll list them as I go e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>
The Pose: The pose suggests one of two things to me, it could be that she's been caught doing something like tracking or perhaps some kind of druidic ritual, and the magical effect that she is using could be to assist in either of those,
or.
It's a defensive combat stance and that she is keeping low amongst the plants to try to avoid combat but she has just been detected and left with no choice.
In any case, it leaves a lot to the imagination (which is a good thing).
Some times the beauty of art is its ability to get the viewer to think and while it tells you 1000 words it lets you think of 1000's more.
The Clothing: As I mentioned in my opening statement, Druids (As I know them in games) avoid using tools and weapons that include metal and other man-made materials and that extends to armour and shields.
Reducing the clothes down to skins, hides and basic cloths creates its own colour palette for the girl, and the dark browns and pale shades works really well for this (And in honesty, They normally have LESS clothes on - so you've protected her modesty well too)
And also the charms that are on the end of the leather straps that entangle her horns/antlers are a great touch to this I think (If this was a Dungeons and Dragons character, they could quite easily be enchanted trinkets that provide her with a multitude of abilities and powers)
Expression: Her expression is a difficult one for me, I'm finding it hard to put my finger on just what it is she is expressing.
It seems more stern with a "don't-you-dare-take-another-step" kind of vibe to it (though I could be wrong). but, the face paint/tattoo is a nice touch and suits the shape of her face.
Other details: Her hair is really well done on this, the braids look really neat and the brown hair matches her apparel colour which ties the whole 'outfit' together nicely
She seems very pale... personally, I like that in woman, but I imagine that druids would be the type of the people who'd spend a lot of time outside (If not ALL the time) you know? which may mean she'd be quite tanned? it's a minor detail and I think she looks good like that, but in the interest of being fair, I feel it's something worth noting e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>
'Camera' Work: The focus is both good and bad, it blurs the parts closest to us and draws attention to the beautiful center piece but in the same breath, the trees and the nature in the background (for the most part) is blurred too and I feel that for a character that is attuned with nature it would have been a nice touch to make (what is essentially her home) more prominent and clear - But I am aware that she is amongst her territory so what is there has done its job xD
Overall though, I think it is a fantastic piece and as always I love seeing what creative scenes you come up with - You have a special way of making the characters look very realistic and it's a joy to witness e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>
Keep up the good work!
