N.B. The background and foreground colors didn't come out right in the photo but the foreground is blended black and burnt umber colored pencil, and the background is blended black, ultramarine, and purple.This was an assignment to depict fear, dread, worry, and burden. I chose to portray it as an imposing, billowing mound of smoke and sludge in a dark, sparsely wooded forest. The little girl in the foreground stands face to face with her ultimate nemesis, her shadow self.
