I painted on a blank layer over the image
I need a LOT of practice before i can do it totally on my own..
Until then, i need a image under so i have something to paint from

you are doing an amazing job and its ok to have reference, lord knows I cant paint without one! you know, some of the greatest digital painters actually make their references in Poser and paint right over the top ^^

yes! It's only really considered "taboo" if it is from a photo or render that you DIDNT make yourself, so dont feel bad about it, you NEED references to make realistic images
