Snowcones – A Leo/Reyna Fanfic
(Third Person)

It was in the middle of winter in Camp Jupiter, three weeks from Christmas. Snow covered the ground, and the Roman demigods (and the Greek ones, too, as they were visiting Camp Jupiter at this time of the year) were simply hanging out in New Rome, as it was in the weekends. They were either making snowmen, snowboarding, or any other activity that involved snow. Everyone except for Octavian and Leo.
   As for Octavian, the teddy bear murderer – I meant augur – definitely despised the snow. He hated being in the cold weather, and Reyna had to smirk when she ordered him to 'have fun' in the snow. He was in one of Bombilo's coffee shops (you know, Bombilo the three-headed coffee merchant), drinking espresso and eating muffins, along with the others who were taking breaks from the snow.
   But Leo was eating a snowcone with cherry syrup. Reyna mentally laughed. But, if she could, she would laugh out loud. But then, the demigods would find it weird, especially the Romans. They never saw the Roman praetor laugh out loud. But, seriously. Snowcones? In the cold weather? That Graecus had a knack for making her laugh.
   No, no. Reyna did not have anything against snowcones. Well maybe someone did pour frozen ice over her head once, but that's barely the point! She would eat an entire can filled with snowcones if she could, even if she will get a brainfreeze.
   Reyna walked calmly inside the coffee shop. Everyone seemed to notice her presence, which wasn't a surprise due to her being the praetor of Camp and all. She was elegant, dangerous, and beautiful. Even the Venus spawns (I mean no offense for any of you children of Venus out there in deviantArt) think that she's beautiful.
   Heck, at least that's what Leo thinks. To Leo's eyes, she was beautiful because she didn't even try. She didn't bother with her hair, and only wears it in a braid. She rarely ever laughs, which ticks Leo off all the time, because her laugh was supposed to be beautiful, Leo was sure of it – enchanting, even, like she was using Circe's magic on him – and she might as well have showed just a little smirk for the whole world to see, for Aphrodite's sake!
   Reyna sat down on the seat opposite Leo, who was so caught up in finishing the snowcone that he almost didn't notice that the praetor was sitting in the same table as him. And when he did notice, he almost choked on some ice.
   Reyna smirked at first. Then when he really choke on the ice, she tossed her head back and laughed.
   Leo tried hard not to focus on the fact that she looked so beautiful when she laughed, or the fact that this was the first time he ever saw her laugh, despite the fact that he kept pestering her with jokes for the last three weeks. Instead, he tried to focus on breathing.
   A couple of seconds later, he stopped choking on ice and flashed a huge smile at Reyna. 'I never saw you laugh before,'
   Reyna snorted. ''Course you haven't,' she looked down at the table. 'I hide my laugh. They expect a Praetor to be strong, smart, and serious. Not anything like you. Your smile is so wide, I don't even know how it fits your face.'
   'Uh-huh,' Leo said, barely focusing on what she was saying. She glared at him, and he said, 'What? You want a snowcone?' He offered her his cherry-flavored snowcone.
   Reyna stared at Leo like he was crazy. 'It's the middle of the winter,'
   'Yeah, and so?' Leo rolled his eyes at her. 'It's like anyone can't take a cold drink in the middle of a cold weather,'
   Reyna rolled her eyes back at him. 'Did you forget that you were the only one around here with Pyrokinesis?'
   'So does that mean I'm immune to brainfreeze?' Leo piped up. 'Now that explains why I can take down a hot snow goddess …' He then realized that Reyna was glaring at him, and he almost choked on ice again. '– But not as hot as you.'
   Reyna was pleased to hear that, but she blushed at the same time. 'You think so?'
   Now Reyna could actually find herself falling for the repair boy. Compared to Jason, Leo had been the first insignificant male to ever make her laugh. He was nothing like Jason. By all means, Jason had never made her laugh. His attempts to make her laugh always went skyrocket. She only laughed when Jason was elected by Gwen to become praetor. She had thought that it was the funniest joke anyone ever made.
   And the boy that sat just in front of her had made her laugh by choking on ice.
   Without carefully thinking, Leo asked her out on a date before he even knew it. 'So Rey-rey, you wanna go out on a date with me?'
   Reyna smiled when she heard Leo's usual nickname for her, she simply had to accept. 'Why not?' She stood up to leave, and then again, everyone seemed to notice that she had left.
   Leo, on the other hand, thought about was she had said and didn't quite understand what she meant by, "Why not?"
