I didn't expect to draw the background of the ship, or to actually be able to draw the textures. But as it turns out, wood is really easy to draw when you've got one lighter shade and a darker shade beneath, just lightly scribble erase the lighter layer to show the darker layer beneath.*----* I has made discovery and i am so happy
They turned out a bit better than I had hoped actually...

On the topic of pirates, there's this really cool book series called Vampirates. OvO Well, there's this conquering the sea plot and wars between pirates that are immortal vampires. Its really epic. Lots of swords and fangs. eve I have fond memories of reading those books, and drawing this brought them up again.
