I don't do nearly enough digital painting. Every step of the process is a big old experiment, the end result being that I spent four days coloring a sketch I'd already made. It looks all right, right? I never know what to do with the background.I'm so glad I finally got around to a color picture of Luna, her design is so frickin cool

Ooooooo, sweet! Looks even better in colour than I imagined it would! Here, it just reflects a more pensive, thoughtful and reflective mood for Luna, very much in keeping with her somewhat "moody loner" nature anyway. Also like the shimmer effect on the outline of her mane & tail, giving the effect of flowing movement. Very nice idea & nicely rendered all around!

Thank you! I was on the fence about the outline effect of her horsey hair... this whole painting was me trying different stuff to see how it looked, hence the multiple shading methods used. And how she's actually got three different styles of outline going on with her mane and tail. I can't always be bothered to pick an exact favorite look for things.

Thanks for the kind words. I spent a lot of time playing around with Clip Studio Paint's effects brushes to get the look of Luna's mane and the meadow foliage.

It's got some cool features. It's more oriented towards artists than Photoshop, with better options for vector drawing and brushes that try to mimic traditional media. I think I got it for $30? Which is definitely worth it and way cheaper than you can legally get Photoshop.
