ANASTASIA'S DREAMSdone in Adobe Illustrator CS6. Approx. 2 hours.
A gift for another friend. She sketched an horse for joke, I turned it into a tribal for a gift.
I'm sure she'll like it.

actually, a friend of mine used teamviewer to sketch a common horse with Illustrator. Then I decided to turn it into a tribal :3 I used her layer as a reference

Oh did she? Weird. But I meant is that what you did for the tribal pattern.? Just used illustrator for the sketch and final..? (Or was there no sketch at all? O.o)
I'm asking cause everytime I do something complicated in illustrator, I always sketch it out first (either traditionally or in PS) & then trace my sketch with the illustrator pen tool

to do the tribal pattern i just gave a look to the muscles of horses to find some inspiration.
I directly did the final version :3 obviously, I did my mistakes and changes until I reached the final result

Crazyy o.o I thought it would be super annoying to do it that wayy..I've tried it before >.< ..but that's just me..you're probably much better with illustrator

well to sketch the lines with the brush i use a wacom tablet :3 that's probably why i find it easy

Oh, you use the brush tool and not the pen tool..? O.o I seee. Strange way to do it o.o never seen anyone else doing it that way before o.o ..but hey, if it works, it works. Good job, man

with the pen you are way precise. Even too much if you need to give a sense of dynamism.

Truee. But I thought that was the whole reason to use illustrator in the first place [well, plus the fact that it's vector and you can make it any size you want, of course]..if you want it to not be perfect, why not use your tablet with a different program? Like Photoshop or Painter..? O.o

technically the brush gives you the same options as the pen o.O simply you sketch the shape, then you can retouch it with the pen if you prefer, which is what i do :3
I find vectors way faster and more beautiful, it's personal :3

Haha guess so. And you're right, they are easier to edit cause you don't have to redraw em.. I still like PS or Painter better though

i scan my works, turn em into defined lineart and color em with ps :3

Ah, well yeah..that's what I would do. Though my old tribals were actually all traditional & then edited in PS because I didn't have a scanner & the pics I took of them sucked >.< lol
