I don't have a studio or something similar to take pictures like this one. This was shot on a table in my flat with a black tray in the background and a black rubber mat underneath all. It is my first try to work with kind of a very small studio and i am a little proud of the result.The only thing i don't like is the title. I tried to come up with a better one but i obviously couldn't. If you have an idea for another title, please let me know.
Please full view and comments/critics.
Edit: removed the border and changed some details in the picture to the better.

Brilliant composition, and the lighting and the use of the black tray and mat have cleary worked amazingly.
The focus would be my biggest worry. Because of the way all of the elements are aranged it seems you really need them all to equally be in focus. But with an aperture of F3.2 that's just not going to happen. I'm assuming you had a tripod? I'd set the aperture to something smaller to increase the focal range, and then just increase the shutter time accordingly. If you did this without a tripod... well done sir!!!
My only compositional complaint is that the horizon is slightly bent... but it's almost not noticable.
I'm meaning to set up some nice shots like this in the future - good work!

thanks very much for that long comment. it means a lot to me when people look at my work as close as you did. i'm very happy with the way the picture turned out but in my opinion some things could have been much better. as you mentioned, there is a lack in focus. but i have to tell you that i don't know much about photography and this shot was kind of my first experience in small studio photography. i can't even tell you whether i used a tripod or not because i have no clue about what this is. could you explain me???

A tripod is three-legged support to hold your camera. It removes all problems of long shutter opening times as a result of hand movement... because there is no hand movement.
This would allow you to use a higher F-stop. This is the size of the opening in the lens, and it would increase the depth of field (the focal distance) of the shot. Thus resulting in everything being in focus.

I have been trying to achieve the 'small studio' photo in my apartment and have failed miserably. This is a great picture. The compsition, the colors and especially the concept. I think the title is perfect. It gives it an air of the rediculous fads that people will spend to much money on, like oxygen bars. I love the lamp, very retro cool. And i did see the '8' in the smoke.

i hope you'll give the small studio photography another try someday. it took me a lot of time until i was pleased with what i saw. but i think it was worth it. i'm quite happy with the result, especially because it was my first try on something like this and i'm not a very experienced photographer.
to answer your question: the only light i used is the one that you see in the picture. the rest of the room was completely dark. i like your thoughts about the oxygen bar and stuff. i've not yet thought about it from this point of view.

How about just 'Milk'? 'Bar' seems to give it a bit of a kitch 80's feel... but that might just be me.

thanks for your comments. about the title: i agree that "milk" would already be better but it's not what i'm looking for. yesterday i tried to come up with a new title while taking a very close look of the pic. the result of it was: "8"
can you imagine why?

I love this photo. Calling it milk bar sort of gave me a flashback of a Clockwork Orange there, and just the whole feel of the picture in general. Good jon at creating the mini studio. Lovely.
