What I really dig is that you're doing art the traditional way using paint on canvas, ...
isn't it much better not only see what you've done but also feel a surface, turn it around, have a real object?

Well, actually, it was painted before the movies were made. I had never read the Tolkien books, and did not even know they were being made as movies. So, when the movies came out, everybody asked me if I had worked on them.
Curious coincidence.
