These days I became really downbeat, couldn't draw for sh*t. I took art trades to cheer me up, even with so many things in my hands. I spent almost all of my day off (today) coloring this because this is one of the OCs I almost never use and she lacked a proper picture as for now. And this is a remarkable one because I managed to make its lineart yesterday, at work. It's the first time in months this happened (since I used to make linearts there and then color at home, I think this is why I didn't submitted as much full-colored drawings as before and there is a increasing hiatus between one thing and another).One of the few things that could get my spirits up besides art was watching the Kubz Scouts gameplays of Yandere Sim, so, one more reason for me to draw a character who is out to fight and brutalize people for giggles.
So, here we have Daria Akel, one of Joy's fair weather friends/goons. Her main fighting style is boxing.

Thanks, but since I'm not accostumed to make dreadlocks, it could be better. I still have to find out the best technique, even if involves incorporating more and more detail to the lineart.

Dreadlocks and fuzzy hair are a difficult thing for me to do, so I mostly avoid doing it, but I have to try for the sake of drawing it anyway. About your characters, even without dreads, Contessa's hair looks complicated enough, with those multiple braids.

If you look close enough, many cultures have these weird kind of hairstyles that makes us think "where the heck they came up with that?". Like the Queen of Naboo in Star Wars: she is basically wearing a Russian folk costume.

Well, the Thughettes' hobbies as a trio are mainly fighting their rivals, kicking them while they are down, picking on Gil and her friends, snarking and insulting each other (in a trio formed by a Jew, an African-American and a Chinese, there's a lot of room for that).

Yes, none can say Joy isn't a progressive villain, giving equal opportunities for all ethnic groups to serve under her Army of Darkness. It's surprising how there is no backlash from the fact they are from minority groups and happen to be bad. Is manking really evolving that quickly?

Ooh I like her, she looks like a real ass-kicker. Love the confidence in her eyes. Also I like that you describe her as one of Joy's "Goons", but she still looks like the type that could ultimately end up ditching joy and going her own way, maybe even taking a hero turn... Just some of my crazy thoughts.

Yeah, this is in line with ther character, since she is a "fair-wheater friend", meaning she won't put her own safety or interests on the line for Joy unless it doesn't pays off. Until then, she is up for some fun!

Indeed she is! Daria works out hard, since she feeds on the fear she can provoke on potential victims just by a look on her power. Just like her dad, shouting threats of Hell and brimstone from the pulpit for those who doesn't give enough.

Oh, no! Her dad wouldn't allow it. It saves much more money to just have one-to-three good bodyguards-hitmen to do the job, as the company's PMC is used to provide security for their enterprises in Africa. Boxing, Krav Maga, studies on poison and other silent forms of "processing" a person... Joy has a wide range of interests.
Too much? No, I could have done Daria and her parents much more despicable than that, but I sticked too much with reality, I would be probably accused of exaggerating them.

I like to give my villains a "reason" to be like they are, be it a Freudian excuse or something else. Daria's evil comes from her corrupted set of morals and self-entitlement of her family.

I get'cha. Characters with motivations and personalities outside the ring always seem more "true" for me. It's easier to sympathize with them, or despise them, and it makes the fights all the more interesting when there's fleshed-out personalities behind the participants.

That's exactly what I aim for. This adds so much feel to a fight, it being much more than just an exchange of violents blows, but something deeper once things like personal values and how we sympathize or despise characters (because sometimes we just love to hate!)
