Description
I forgot to submit this before I submitted my most recent painting. Here's my painting process for my "Joy" artwork, which can be seen here!
To start off, I've decided to approach my painting with more of a "straight to the point" method. It's way more fun for me to paint if I try to get what I'm conceptualizing as soon as possible, which includes blocking in the colors, shapes, and general details I want to focus on. So for the future, if my painting seems to jump quite a lot in between steps one and two, it's because I just blocked everything in fast. Now, on to the steps!.
1. I've had this idea for a little monster playing with a flower for a few days, so I eventually sat down and sketched designs. Eventually, I just settled on one of my earlier ones since it resonated with me the most.
2. Blocked in colors, shading, and general idea for the environment. I choose some mid range values so it'll be easier to add the lights and darks. I also did a quick tracing of my sketch.
3. I pushed the darks and lights, along with adding in more general details (such as flowers).
4. Decided against the flowers since they felt a little of a distraction, so I just simplified the environment. I also continued to push the lighting and shading.
5. I added in the highlights to really make the painting glow, along with adjustment layers to adjust things such as saturation and levels.
6. I made my final adjustments after not seeing the painting for a few hours.
So! That's my painting process. Hope this helps/you enjoyed this. Thanks for stopping by!
