Description Taken during a class field trip on August 17, 2005. There was a large flock of Laughing Gulls (Leucophaeus atricilla) following the ferry to Ship Island off the coast of Mississippi. I saw some people holding out their snacks and the gulls delicately plucked them from their fingers while on the wing.

Part of our field trip (before visiting the island) was visiting Marine Life Oceanarium in Gulfport that was destroyed by Katrina. We got to go behind the scenes and play with the dolphins. It was so much fun. So sad that it's gone now.
