Description There's only really one time in my life that I can remember having truly done a "good deed," one I didn't do for my own benefit or ego and one that didn't personally benefit me in some way. I was about maybe eight or nine years old, and some children outside my school were making plans to throw rocks at and kill one of the little brown bats that roosted under the eaves, where unfortunately, people could easily see them.

I don't remember the exact threat I gave them, only that they ran off very quickly. I don't know how the little bat fared in the world after that, but in that moment at least, I knew he'd live to fly another night.

The pendant is for sale here.

Since "no good deed goes unpunished", as they say,Β that bat will come back someday and bite you in the butt.

Then we shall eulogize you with his writings.

Great, now I have a certain Voltaire song in my head again.

It reminds me of the little brown batty (probably the same species as the one you mentioned) that was clinging to the wall near the door to one of the art rooms.Β  It was adorable as friggin' Hell, and I even clearly remember my Illustration teacher saying in her German accent, "He's so cyuut!".Β  Just sittin' there, vertically along the wall, bein' a tiny little bat.Β

And this little pendant is adorable as hell as well.Β  He seems to have taken "I am the night" a little too literally, heh.Β

This is not how the little brown bat dies!

They're insanely common out here to the point where they regularly make a nuisance of themselves. Personally, if it weren't for the fact that they're the number one rabies vector species, I wouldn't mind having them around.

Dammit, why couldn't I see any when I was there??Β  I love batsies, even the diseased ones!Β

And out here, Raccoons are the #1 rabbis carrier ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9K43W… ) and in fact, we were taught early on that they were the primary carrier in the world.Β  Don't know if that statistic has changed any, I'm not really up-to-date with spreadable diseases (hence my signature hairdo).Β  I guess they don't like going that high up north, though I can't say I blame them; poor things would be wandering the vast, flat wastelands for weeks just looking for a garbage can to knock over.
