Roses are quite a nice detail of pathos. I'd like to add that when someone drowns in a river or a lake it is quite common for people to throw the wreaths in the water at the funerals. It's an old tradition. But I thought roses would look more pretty. If I will ever color this I shall try blue or white color for their petals.

Oh I see! That's really great! I wonder if that was what Jack's family did for his funeral? Something like tossing the flowers onto the lake would be accurate.

Yes, perhaps, in the early spring they could gather to revere the memory of Jack. But I suppose that in the first turn, when the lake was still icy they left some candles and may be other things like some amulets. I think there was some place near the lake where his mother and sister left the flowers and candles every year. In some cultures it is alright to leave some food or other elements which can remind of home, may be toys.
In some legends it is told that the souls of drowned people become the spirits of rivers and seas - the mermaids. In ukrainian folk it is told that these souls wander through the woods and bring bad luck to strangers who roam in the night. Perhaps, in such case, Emma would probably try to search for the spirit of her brother somewhere in the woods.
