EDIT: Does anyone know how I could have gotten the piece not to have a white border around it like it was just the frame itself? I thought I had the frame on a transparent background in PS, but when I uploaded it here it turned it white instead of making it transparent. Help?

This is really cool! I don't see the white border around the frame. It looks like a picture hanging on the wall - a 3D one that is If you are talking of the fine line inside the frame, you can increase your canvis size and paint in that line with background colour. That is if your frame is on another layer. THe line is almost unoticable. Lovely work!

Actually, I fixed it so that the white border wasn't there anymore.

Thank you so much.

Beautiful piece, I really like the way the stripped stockings and the checkered floor work (I can't really explain what it is). A lovely concept.

Did you save it as a PNG file?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cinnamoncandy In reply to GeodeLady [2006-07-01 04:53:04 +0000 UTC]

No, I saved it jpeg. I have a temporary solution (or maybe a permanent one). I made the border the same shade as DA and it doesn't stick out as much.

GeodeLady In reply to Cinnamoncandy [2006-07-01 05:58:41 +0000 UTC]

If you save it as a png it will keep the background clear like you are wanting.

Sweet idea....this came out beautifully.....I think if you save as a gif you will get a transparent background.

Try making the border the same color as the deviant art page. At least it wouldn't be as noticable.

Cinnamoncandy In reply to Brashier [2006-07-01 04:56:23 +0000 UTC]

I did that. It was the easiest route at this point. I was getting sick of messing with it. I give up! Thanks for the suggestion.

Brashier In reply to Cinnamoncandy [2006-07-01 16:05:15 +0000 UTC]

On my deviation Reach I tried to make it look like she was reaching past the border and onto the DA page. The shadow kept it from looking like that though. Anyhow that is when I figured that out. Yours looks much better now even with the shadow.

Ah, I see. I'm not sure why it didn't strike me to do that to begin with. Yeah, I agree it does.

You want the white to be transparent right? you just cut it out put into a new frame, delete the white lowest layer and save it as a PNG...that should do it?

Candi, I just downloaded your picture and I removed the red.

Open photoshop and this image. Using the Marquee tool, copy the whole picture.

Then go to file-new-but make sure you click a transparent background.

Now paste the picture into it.

Now take the magic wand tool and click on the red to remove it. It's gone!!!!

Now you must save it again without the red. Done. red all gone!!!!

Cinnamoncandy In reply to Xondria [2006-06-30 05:07:34 +0000 UTC]

Tried it again doing exactly what you said. I uploaded it to scraps [link] As you can see it is still appearing on DA with a border around the frame. It's on a transparent background in PS and I saved it as such. There is something when I upload it here that's making the border show up.

Thanks for the help.

Xondria In reply to Cinnamoncandy [2006-06-30 05:10:39 +0000 UTC]

May be if you just use the marquee tool around the frame only. Then there would be no space for that white border. try that hun.

Cinnamoncandy In reply to Xondria [2006-07-01 05:06:03 +0000 UTC]

Well, I took the easy route... at least for now. I made the border the same color as DA. It looks a little better. Maybe I'll give your suggestion a try. Thanks for your help.
