Long reminiscing/reflection ahead!
I recently realized that I've been on DA for 5 years. Made me go all nostalgic and stuff. The reason why I joined DA was 'cause of Naruto. Seriously. If not for this little annoying colorblind fail ninja, I wouldn't be where I am today.

I used to take actual art classes with a teacher who taught me watercolor and acrylics in elementary school and a bit of middle school. His paintings are so amazing, my mom commissioned him four paintings and when I leave the house I am gonna ninja them.

I wasn't ever good at painting or drawing; I just liked it. He never really taught or showed me techniques(mostly because of communication problems; he spoke mandarin and I spoke canton lols). He taught by example; he had us copy pictures from art books and stuff onto canvas. I had a problem with copying from actual paintings. After getting frustrated with my TERRIBLE art, I quit(I had quite the short fuse of patience). Sometimes I regret quitting because I wouldn't be drawing cartoons for a hobby.

I then realized I didn't have someone to point me in the right direction to doodle anymore. Which was fine by me. It was just a hobby anyway.

THEN THE INTERNET HAPPENED. Oh how I rue the day I met the internet. The internet and I have a love hate relationship. AND THEN THIS MAGICAL AWESOME COLORBLIND NINJA APPEARED IN MY LIFE AND CONSUMED ME FOR A YEAR OR TWO. This is when I was, using horse terms, spoiled as an artist. When you start to copy anime as a drawing style, it's like learning how to ride a bike with broken legs and no idea what gravity is and that the ground is hard. Its a HELL of a lot harder to draw properly. You fall, so many times, but its not impossible. It's just HARDER. Your legs heal eventually and you learn to wear a helmet and padding so when you fall, it won't hurt as much.

I found out after I became a weeboo that Naruto and I have the same birthday. I used to visit this Naruto RP chatroom and I'd hang there all the time(ohgodthisissoembarrasing). I rp'd "Kakuzu". Remember? That weird tentacle guy. Yeah. Weird guy.

Anyway, it was exciting for a while and then, when I decided that Naruto was for noobs, embarrassing. Shortened my online name from "Kakuzu" to "Kazu". After only a short while(it seems short now that I look back), I improved ten folds. I keep using "Kazu" on my sigs and on DA because its a reminder of my previous achievements and failures. It feels weird if I sign my art with my real name. Plus, I'm not too embarrassed about my Naruto obsession anymore. It used to constantly bother me to the point where I'd go to bed at night and say, "OH JEBUS CRIPS I USED TO BE SO RETARDED SOBSOBSOB WHY. I HATE MY LIFE".

I love DA. I really do, I've met so many AMAZING people and of course lost a lot of those amazing people. You guys are such an inspiration *sniff* .> (one eye'd smilies are an inside joke between ~Looneh by the by lol i can't make a proper smilie with two eyes anymore, you're terrible person looneh jk bro lol)

So yeah, five years. I feel so old. Five years without much dramallama. Many things have changed, my choice of clothing for one(man jeans just keep getting tighter and tighter and my legs just keep getting fatter and fatter), but I will never forget where I started. I'm off to college after this year and I'm more sure than I was this morning that I'm going to go into art. I love science, but I don't think I'll be happy there.

My legs are getting stronger and I've learned to put on a helmet, but I still fall a lot. I hope by going to college, I'll be able to do tricks on my bike.
