Description One of the most stunning eyes I've had the pleasure of putting onto paper.

[Edit: Now that I look at it, this picture looks washed out to me. The original looks fine. Damn digital photos and the fact that if I wanted to get the whites as white as I want them by way of adjusting brightness/contrast, the damn thing turns completely grainy and horrible. But yeah, just wanted to mention that the background color on this, which appears blue-grey at this point, has me a little miffed.]

Charcoal on paper.
14" x 18".

Full View Please.

Original available for purchase. Note me for pricing.

It is so easy to forget that these aren't photos, but instead works of art done in charcoal. You are...AMAZING! Your art is so inspiring. I am sure you hear this all of the time but...wow. You are so good at it. I have looked at all your work, but this poce and this expression is what made me want to make this the one I leave the comment on. I love it so much!

Ha, I hate how the computer makes my work look. It looks so unfinished and sloppy but the work itself looks fine. Anywho, I love this one as well. I love the expression on the person's face, I just love everything. It's beautiful.

whites whiter? I could try to edit the pic for you to get the contrast you wanted.
I could try editing it, if you want.

Ah, no thank you. I know how to get it to go whiter, but the subtle shading gets lost if it's done. Thanks very much for the offer though. Greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this is a male of a female, i am assuming male. Not that it matters, is this white charcoal? If so i think i like that style the best, or when white is used as opposed to black.

Nope. Black charcoal on white paper.

Alright,, so all of your pieces are so god damn amazing, but I've got to say this is my favorite. Yes, I had to ponder this for quite a time, but I decided on this one. A perfect feel, balance and great use of charcoal(I myself have been trying a great deal with charcoal, and the techniques that are useful, but I always have a hard time on using too much black in my work. How would you solve that? I can tell you use charcoal a lot and I would love any tips

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cinquain In reply to corkstudy [2005-06-09 03:33:38 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... well first off I don't believe in 'too much black,' but that's just because I'm a nutcase. Since you've looked through my gallery you can see that some pieces have a lot of white and little black, and some are almost all black with little white. It all depends on the piece and what composition it demands. It would be easier if I could see one of your charcoal pieces (I looked through your gallery but didn't spot any). That way you can tell me what you like and don't like about it and I could tell you how to go about making it 'better', or at least more to your liking. I'd be happy to help, naturally.

I hate hands. That's one thing I am not good with, and yet I love images with hands in them. Go figure that one out. I think hands are the most difficult part of the body to draw, period.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

vietkatthroughlense In reply to cinquain [2005-04-12 18:25:02 +0000 UTC]

it is listed under one of the hardest...but achievable...keep pratice...i think hands look good when you pay more attention to details and the proportion of each fingers...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cinquain In reply to vietkatthroughlense [2005-04-12 20:57:00 +0000 UTC]

Let me tell ya', though, those fingers looked funny in the image I was working from. So here's the story. This subject oints to the picture: had his hand crushed (yes, CRUSHED!) in a hooorrible farming accident. Yep. So that hand there is a retardo-hand. See? All fixed. And now the picture has some history to it.
