Yep. So... I wasn't sure how to catagorize this piece; whether to stick it in portraits and figures or surreal or fantasy or even macabre, because I think has a place in all of those. But eh, whatever. Anyway...

The Fall: I wanted to do a 'fallen angel' piece, and I'd had my eye on a specific picture for quite some time so I decided to use it as a reference. I put in the feathers, which weren't in the original photo I used as a reference (seven feathers, the number seven being holy and blah blah blah), one of which is in the figures direct line of sight and has turned black and red, like the figures hair. The suggestion here is that he's the angel, pushed out of heaven, only to take on instant changes (the red streaking his hair, the white feathers turning black as they hit the ground) once he leaves the kingdom of god and... yeah... you get the general idea. (Hey, I'm not religious so take it as you will.)

If anyone ever says that drawing feathers in charcoal is easy you instantly know they're an effin' liar. And yes, the red is actually in the piece. I didn't edit anything but the background which, due to lighting, came out blueish grey per usual. This one was a bit harder to 'clean up' seeing as to how I couldn't grayscale it. Okay. Enough talk.
