Description The whole world lies within the garden for one who cares to see it.
Though their golden days have long since passed, The Old Ways still endure into the modern era, depowered and humbled as they are. After all, old habits die hard. Just look at the modern day.
Putting aside that philosophical rambling, however, why wouldn't they go on? Anything can be reused or repurposed. Though the nature of something like a Zen garden has changed in the broad sense, it's can serve much the same purpose in smaller ways. Common areas, or second spaces, are an undervalued commodity today, but in yester year, or more importantly the world of Advent From Elsewhere, they're a part of the pillars that hold a community together.
All the better to let old faiths live on, in practice or as history, by becoming public spaces that anyone can access. The people get a new space to gather, and the keepers get attendance, some of whom may donate and/or listen to the past.
Granted the sand and trees pictured here are more of city thing than something a small town or village might have, and they're somewhat prohibitive, being a challenge to reach for a common person, as well as restrictive, wanting contemplative quiet and so on, but the idea is still there. The doors are usually open for anyone to come in and find something, be it meeting up, or a space to collect themselves.
