I really like the colors, but honestly I must suggest that you work on the whole stiff feeling thing. This is a great piece and I feel like you are definitely always improving!
I guess the problem is I'm not really quite sure how does one learn to capture the naturalness of movement, poses, and interaction? Hmm that is something to think about.

Thanks, I'm really not sure what to tell you about that. I do gesture studies and targeted practice and I really think it's just something that is going to come with more mileage.

Hello, I hope you don't mind if I reply the this thread.
First of all, great job with the coloring. I can see you've thought about light and shadows, and how they fall onto a surface.
I believe the reason your piece looks stiff is because the colors look very heavy. There is so much going on everywhere, and the background, while very pretty, doesn't help with that. If you backed down on how much different tones of colors you add then it'll become easier to practice making a piece "looser".
Another thing is the guy. The female alone would look great, but the guy's pose isn't dynamic and doesn't contribute anything. By that I mean, the male is hardly interacting with the female. It's almost as if you put together two stand alone pieces.
One other thing is the clothes. The way you've laid on your lighting and shadow to create the folds, creases, and such is the same nearly all around. Not everything you wear will have the same thickness, also not all clothes will be made of the same material. Thinking about texture let you be more playful with light and shadow. Also keep in mind that clothes move with us and interact with the environment. That too will help make this and future pieces look more natural and not so stiff.
I know this is a lot, but I saw someone mentioned the stiffness of the piece so I thought I help out explain how you can improve. I'm not sure if all my point are on target, but I hope they are helpful in some way! You really created a wonderful piece. I like the girl, she is so pretty! And I do like how you've colored this piece just because I know how hard it is to make skin look like skin and denim to look like denim, etc lol Great job overall I hope I didn't sound negative!

I don't really have any OCs. At least, not ones I've actually drawn. Lol. Sounds funny when I say it like that.
