Description
Inspired by aardwolfs (and some wolfy magic cards) I found myself sketching this guy.

The wolves in the heartwood are barely even beta level predators, surviving as much on carrion left by other larger predators as their own hunting. They have developed huge furr ruffs both to stave off the frigid climate and to make them look larger to other more dangerous predators.

Like normal wolves they live in small packs, and While generally not threatening they do occasionally attack livestock or lone travelers. Unlike wolves from earth they occasionally are forced band together in monstrous packs by another larger apex predator moving Ito their territory. The largest of theese displaced super-packs can consist of up to a hundred or more wolves, and unfortunately are usually always constantly an inch from starvation. They have been known to attack small towns or large caravans.

Most of the heartwood wolves have a slightly reddish tinge to blend in with the forrest or the red brown mud of the redwater region, but up along the northern mountains I imagine you might see a grayer variet. during the winter it is not unheard of to see some with white flecked or completely white coats.
