I've been meaning to ask you-- I've been wanting to get an SX-70 camera for a while now; where'd you get yours? I've got me eye on some on ebay, but am a little wary of the internet shopping..

i'm using a spectra that i bought on ebay. you should be wary of ebay as it is dangerous. i've was swindled for a large sum of money once. if you are buying a fairly inexpensive item though, you needn't worry too much. only buy from someone with large ammounts of positive feedback, and also read the feedback to determine problems other buyers have had with the seller.

the other option is to look at thrift stores. theres a chain in utah called "deseret industries" and whenever i've gone they always have 3 or 4 polaroid cameras kicking around. i found one last time that used sx-70 film for just $3.

i bought a spectra because the film is cheaper than the time zero, although time zero is nicer, and i do prefer the square format of time zero and 600 film to the rectangular of the spectra.

anyway, i'm rambling. i reccomend you check a thrift store first.

I got tired of waiting for you to respond so I just made myself a camera. Out of an oatmeal box. Heheh heh..

It's real! I was up all last night figuring out the kinks and developing film. I turned my little kitchen into a darkroom. I'll post some photographs when I get access to a scanner. It's so much fun.

It's just a pinhole camera. Get an empty oatmeal can, paint the inside black, poke a hole with a thumbtack, get a piece of electrical tape to cover the hole when not "shooting" and ta-da, a camera! You just load it with some paper film and then use it basically like a regular camera. Except exposure times are very much longer (I did a photo of these dried flowers in a little vase-- exposure time was 2 1/2 hours!)
