Description [LEGO Halo]

-----

The Revenant, designated the "Rizvum-pattern Swift Tank" by the Covenant and referred to as the "Type-48 Light Assault Gun Carriage" by the UNSC, was a lightly-armored close-range artillery support vehicle.

Designed by the Merchants of Qikost, a Sangheili arms manufacturer from the Covenant's private sector, it was intended to fill the "functional gap" between the Ghost scout bike and the Wraith heavy mortar tank.

This is a much-needed update to my old 2013 Revenant design. I haven't been active on Deviantart for quite a while (again), but I think this build is important so I want to make it visible on the broader Internet.

For context, since 2020 I have become a moderately successful LEGO builder on Instagram, going by the username @mechanizedbuilds  , and mainly building fictional tanks, mechs, and other armored vehicles.

What inspired me to make a new attempt at capturing the Revenant's design in LEGO was a discussion with my friend @belgiumbuilder  , who recently featured a lot of parts in Dark Red for his PzKfw V ‘Panther’ Ausf. G's tricolor camouflage scheme. It was then that I finally realized just how much more versatile Dark Red has become in the nine years since I last tried making a Revenant using using LEGO's standard, brighter Red color!

With the available Dark Red parts as a reference for the limitations of the shapes I could recreate, combined with the knowledge of techniques and part clearances I have obtained through building over the past two years since I started on Instagram, I believe I was able to do the design justice with this model.

Using a unit converter as well as the in-universe measurements (length 6.5m, width 4.0m, height 1.9m), I calculated the needed dimensions in LEGO (18x11x5 studs) to build the Revenant in 1:45 minifigure scale. After that, I started from the bottom and went up, using many SNOT and hinge bricks to shape all the curves and contours.

The final model seats a driver and passenger just like in Halo: Reach, with the passenger sticking partially out to use their handheld weapon! The Class-2 medium plasma mortar also rotates and elevates/depresses, and the side wing prongs can be adjusted too. The model is pretty sturdy too, assuming you grab it by the hood or from below.

If you're interested in perhaps building this model for yourself, both the Revenant's PDF instructions and XML parts list (for use on Bricklink) are available on my Payhip shop, link below:

There have not been any modern attempts at building a Revenant in LEGO since the 2010's (at least from what I can see), so I wanted to fill the void with my own design, using not only updated parts and techniques, but also the more appropriate Dark Red color. All the older models on the Internet use the inaccurate bright Red color due to the limitations of the medium in the 2010's, so it is my hope that I can make this model the definitive LEGO Revenant moving forward. A bold claim perhaps, and maybe Halo: Reach has lost its relevance with age, but that game and this vehicle are very important to me so I wanted to honor them both with this model.
