Description:
Axisurge is a Large, dinosaurian pokemon that resembles Spinosaurus. Its body is Yellowish peach color with dark blue markings running down its neck and tail. On its back is a large, crystalline sail. When in battle, its sail surges with an even larger sail of electricity that extends down and connects all the way to the end of its long tail. It has a large head with a long snout that ends with a bulbous nose, as well as jagged jaws, red eyes, and a large Crest that sits in the middle of two large brow ridges. It has long forelimbs with three claw-like digits each-the first finger on each being proportionally larger than the other fingers. It's short but sturdy hind legs with four claws on each of its webbed feet.

Summary:
These pokemon were the largest of all predatory prehistoric pokemon. These pokemon claimed a stretch of river as it's own and fiercely guarded it. Due to this behavior, they are affectionately called the "Guardians of the River". These pokemon are at their most active during thunderstorms. Because their territories overlap, it has an unspoken, yet begrudging alliance with Croganarch. They both aid each other in keeping their territories safe and prosperous. Despite having been extinct for over 95 million years, Axisurge was very much prevalent in ancient Malagasian lore. Fossils of Axisurge were worshipped as a mythological figure. A powerful deity who fiercely protects the ancient waterways and devoured any who dare harm it.

Like it's Pre Evolution Spionic, Axisurge is Based on Suchmimus, but is more heavily based on Spinosaurus (As well as the other Design Aspects I described for Spionic)

The Crystal that are fused with this Pokémon are based on Yellow Tanzanite.

Which is fitting since in Masai Folklore, Tanzanite was "born from lightning". The story goes, lightning struck the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, scorching the land, and in the aftermath, a spectacular crystal were left shimmering in the ashes.

The Coloration on its sail is modeled after the Sun, which is a small nod to the theory that Spinosaurus' sail was used for thermoregulation.

The Shape of its sail pays homage to both of restoration of Spinosaurus made in the 21st century.

It's Sail at rest is based on Reconstructions of Spinosaurus made in the early 2000s(The restorations that first introduced me to this dinosaur as a child)

And it's sail when surged up represents the more modern restorations of Spinosaurus(Which I have quite the fondness for).

The way the light bounces off its sail is modeled after the Sun's rays, which is not only a small nod to the theory that Spinosaurus' sail was used for thermoregulation, but also references Sobek often being portrayed with a Sun disk and also Sunburst, when you fashion gemstones to resemble the sun and its rays.

And Lastly, Due to the black band under its eye and its pokedex entries stating Axisurge is the "Guardian of the River", it may draw some inspiration from the Egyptian Crocodile god Sobek.

Axisurge and it's counterpart Croganarch are also themed around skills that help progress society. Axisurge is based on Fishing/Aquaculture.

Axisurge is a combination of "Axis", which in this context is the skull and backbone of a vertebrate animal, and another word for Vertebrate is Spine, and "Surge". Its Japanese name Sobking is a combination of "Sobki" an alternate name for Sobek, the Egyptian crocodile God and "King".
