Description This photograph was taken earlier this year in North Cascades National Park in the US state of Washington. Just off the main road through the park, there is a short hike that takes you to a viewpoint where I captured this photo. It's an incredible place for hiking, with mountains and waterfalls almost everywhere you look. This particular formation struck me as particularly stunning, especially with the wisps of clouds coming over the top.

As always, if you have any comments to share, I'd love to hear what you think! What are your favorite landscapes in the world? For me, the Pacific Northwest is hard to beat!

Beautiful! I'd love to go to Washington sometime and ride some original North Shore mountain bike features. Haven't ever ridden a descent more than 600 feet and out there they got some huge ones, it'd be incredible to spend the whole day on a descent weaving through the woods like this: youtu.be/W-6-7JdY0ls

That video does look amazing, albeit somewhat terrifying to someone like me who hasn't done that before! But the rainforests out there like you see in the video are beautiful and great for biking, I'm sure.

Oh I definitely get that. My first proper trail ride was pretty scary! I'd love to live out there one day.

It was very cool for me to travel there, and it would be even better to get a chance to live there someday! When I took this trip back in May of this year, it was my first time visiting the area since starting to write Dragon Dreams, and it made me feel even better about picking that setting for the story. I really feel like the atmosphere is exactly what I was looking for. Although unfortunately I didn't see any dragons myself on the trip, I could imagine they were there still, just out of sight
