Made entirely from trash (except for the paint) The frame too
was once discarded wood found somewhere, processed
and re-purposed into a frame that although painted,
retains a rough rustic look with the saw blade marks showing.

Another solid, good painting from your ships series. I like the idea of using any available materials to make a painting, strong/blues and rich yellows for the ship make this a very strong work!

Thanks Vinny for the support. Sometimes I look at my work and the devil in me starts discouraging me.

Just keep going CJ we all have self-doubt from time to time but we have to shake it off!

Yes indeed Vinny, believing in one's self can be so difficult at times.
I derive courage from Picasso's paintings (I'm sure you understand the loaded
meaning in this comment) and the fact that almost all of the greatest modern
artists were publicly ridiculed in their days. This realisation gives me the
courage to do what I like to do and my detractors (yes I do have some in the form of
apes) can all go and get fucked. I know they sneak in here to have a look.

I was going to note this to you, CJ,
but that some of your 'watchers'
must also be your Australian country-
men, this might be for them too:

Thomas Marsh -
[from an online heritage site] - a second cousin to my dad, [Victor Raymond Piper - born 1902 and died 1951 in the same room in the same farmhouse - Picket Line Rd, Mt Morris, NY, USA]

"...-in-law, and grandchildren.) MARSH.-In memory of ThomasMarsh, died February 8. 1949. -Always remembered. (Don Mac- kay.) MARTIN.-In loving memory of mum, who passed .away February 7, 1961. -Always remembered. (Leslie ... at St. Vincent's, to Oarmei ¡od BUI-a son (Peter Francis). BEAVIS.-On February 4. at St. Andrew's, to Joan, wile of Frank , daughter (Sally). BROOKE (Jeffery).-On January « »t Nathalia Hospital, to Frank ... ¡¡¡d Isa-a daughter (Christine Aiili). CHISHOLM (Bolt).-On February t at Margaret Coles, to Margery ¡nd Les-a daughter (Jillian Les "ni'N'ON (Shelton). - On Febru irs- I, at the Mercy Hospital ... , to Gwenda lld Colin-a son. HENDERSON (nee Gange). - At Widse street, Werribee, to Alvie md..."
Publication: Feb 8 1954 - Melbourne, Victoria, Australia"

This would be to advise that any direct descendant of Mr Marsh would be, as I am, a blood descendant from Benjamin Franklin - from whom I am a 1st cousin 8 times removed.
This Ben Franklin - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin…

While we're on famous relatives, here's one who's still living. We played together as kids.
My second cousin [same side as the Marsh lineage]- www.cato.org/people/richard-ra…

...Just something nice to know. pip

Very interesting material Pip,
you've done some research eh?
I remember you telling me about him
losing his eye sword fighting with sticks
when a kid. I have no knowledge of
my ancestry, all immediate from my father's
side that I can remember were dickheads,
and know of no one from my mother's
beyond her sister and mother.
Worse... I don't care to find out.  I stumbled
on to a cousin in Rome Italy (father's side) on the net...
yep!  Another dickhead. I am the last one alive
from my immediate family. One too many (LOL)
Thanks for posting this interesting read with links.

My intent was: that if any of your
Australian friends were descended
from any of the Thomas Marsh
descendants as listed, they might
like to know of Mr Franklin being a
potential forebearer of theirs.

Or that they have a bit of DNA from
European Neanderthals. I have 3.1%.

Great texture and colors - and I like your trash-as-art-supplies approach too.

Hi Richard,
I cannot help it but see much potential and good
use in 90% of all discarded matter that I come across.
I'm not much of a "painter" and hardly deserve to show
my so called paintings, the thing thing I'm proud of
however is that I can produce an image in a rough/raw
type of finish on material that was once tossed out
and considered utter rubbish and totally useless.
