Description LNWR Class G2 0.8.0 number 49395 passes northbound through Burrs Country Park with a freight shuttle service from Bury Bolton Street to Ramsbottom. 18th January 2014.

Sadly, the locomotive failed that night with problems with the small tubes, a similar problem to the fault that took 60009 "Union Of South Africa" out of service from her previous boiler ticket. This will inevitably lead to the Super Ds withdrawal for expiration of her boiler certificate. A sad loss of a really good all rounder.

Not sure I'd call her a good all rounder, from what I gather she's hated by many firemen and there is a party at the NYMR every time she leaves. A sad loss none the less though of a remarkable and now unique locomotive! I'd imagine she'll be back though after she had so much spent on her at her last overhaul. It would be a shear waste of money to have put all that effort into rebuilding her frames and cylinder block, only to use them for one boiler certificate.
