I love how they seem to just float in the mist... the fog looks protective to them and they feel completely at ease in it. Great atmosphere!

Very dark & gothic...reminds me of the Jack the Ripper movies...all that London fog & cobbled streets. Great job on the details esp. with such a limited palette of color.

I just finished re-reading Shakespeare's "Macbeth" so I naturally thought of the three witches. I love the way they seem to be disconnected from the ground and floating in the fog.

oh alright!
This is a totally unexpected interpretaion for me!! - theor being witches.
I think that's the superiority of this medium over the verbal language.

thanks for the comment

I hope you don't feel slighted, I tend to see everything through the eyes of whatever literature I happen to be reading - you depicted three women on a foggy street, having just finished "Macbeth" what else could I think of?

oh no, no problem about 'slight' at all.

The reference photo was of ordinary women, I thought I would just add a dramatic touch not showing their feet. So, I was still mentally in the reference image and the 'witches' take came as a surprise, that's all!!

Oh, I'm honestly relieved, I was hoping that you hadn't painted some relatives, and here I go calling them witches.

lol, no relatives there!!

but this has happened to me once as well! Once I commented on someone's painting of a boy saying he looks mentally challenged - honestly believing that the artist was trying to depict some such boy. Luckily, she had a good laugh and said - that's my son and nothing wrong with him!!

OOPS! I'll have to keep that in mind for next time I see a portrait of a boy.
