Description Admittedly, I haven't really been in a very illustrative mood as of late...But, as I was perusing that lovely thing known as the Interwebz, I came across a quite interesting website known as hunterslair.com...

Basically, it's a site devoted to those who CosPlay the baddest ass aliens in the universe - the Yautja (more commonly known as Predators)...

I've -always- had a thing for Yautja...Maybe it's just the sheer brilliance that went into their conceptual design that truly makes them stand out from all the other "seen that, yawned at that" movie monsters in our modern age, or perhaps it was the fact that for a species that has interstellar technology, they still dress like barbaric chest beater brutes, or even the fact that, scarily enough, I identify with them on a primal level, being a huge guy that's prone to violence upon occassion...

Either way, long story short, I fell in love with the idea of sketching up a Predator that was somewhat different then most seen...I began developing an entire backstory for the particular Yautja in my head as I was adding things here, spiffying others things up there, until I finally came upon what would be -my- Yautja alter-ego - "Manitou"...

______________________________________

I see Manitou being much like myself...He knows how to use a firearm, but firearms, whether ancient as we lowly humans have or as advanced as what the Yautja use regularly, take a whole lot of the "personal" side out of the hunt...Manitou would rather get close in, down and dirty, and be damned if he comes away with a scar from a prey creatures attempt at flight or fight, cause it's just going to make a good story around the fire later anyhow, right?...

In my head, I see Manitou being aged, but not necessarily an "elder" within his species...He's hunted occasionally on earth since around the end of the 18th century, and found the aborigines of North America, during their attempts at defending their ancestoral lands, a valiant warrior, if still primitive, species, both worthy of respect, as well as worthy of serving as prey...

And when You add the Europeans to the mix, with their muskets and numbers, the hunts became quite interesting indeed!...

Being of the mindset of close and personal being better, Manitou pieced the majority of his armor together through the remains of previous hunts...Although he kept a cloaking and self-destruct gauntlet on his left forearm, Manitou rarely uses it, except to add an element of terror for those he hunts, causing most of them to believe they're being sought after by some vengeful spirit...

In fact, this is exactly how the Yautja known as "Manitou" received the name he's most known by today...

_______________________________________

Yep, I'm a big geeky dork...But then again, so help me, if I ever get the funds to put towards such, I'll have a CosPlay suit made of Manitou one day...Although I'm not 7ft tall, at 6ft 4 3/4 inches tall, and 235lbs, I think I could pull off a Yautja quite convincingly...

Keep in mind that this is just a conceptual design I've done, to help me visualize Manitou better, and was done specifically for said reason...

It's obviously not dynamic by any means, and wasn't meant to be so...Just wanted a straight on shot, to get my idea out...
