Description
Here's my original character, Elpis.Her dress is usually white, but when she fights it turns red, blood's color somehow.
I want to draw garnet gems, it would suit Elpis, but... Epic fail! I have no idea what the heck those pink "crystals" are...

The crystals are perfect as is, composition wise. If they were a true garnet colour, it would distract from Elpis.

This is excellent work because if you had made the crystals garnet the character wouldn't have stood out to me as much by lowering the color of the crystals you emphasized the character instead of the background so for the purpose of the drawing if you want it red then I suggest adding hints of red to the crystals instead of a full on red either way it's beautiful drawing be proud of it

Rose quartz is the best answer for your crystals. As they are quarts they grow in the structure similar to what you have drawn and it has a very nice pink to it's hues~

I like it maybe with garnet make them have blood stained edges like on the tops of them or that they have red veins in them like veined quartz

IDK XD I'm just a music lover and the right way to spell her name is P!nk but the only way to fix the drawing that I know of is to slowly add light red washes of true red to the drawing but I might be wrong and it will end up crappy but that's the only way I know of to make something a different color is to add the color you want in little shades in watercolor so that if you make a mistake it's not that bad but I might be wrong I suggest drawing the crystals on a different paper the exact way and doing experiments with different colors to find what shade of red would turn the crystals from Pink to red but still keep the definition of it being a crystal cuz sometimes if you do a wash, the dimensionals on the drawing are lost and it becomes one solid shape that provides no purpose in the drawing and therefore something ugly distracting, not pretty at all

hahah I'm not an artist I'm an art appreciator sorry if you got the wrong idea but ever since I can remember I've always watched other people paint and take note of what went wrong and how they fixed it or see something wonderful being brought to life. This one man by the riverside was an amazing painter a master really he was the one who taught me that, watercolor to really bring out a soft or strong color you have to apply it in shades this takes a lot of patience and time for a light shade lighter layers and so on I just thought that my comment would help but I'm by far no artist I'm totally sorry for the misunderstandings In truth I'm a crappy artist and in much need of teaching I guess I just over thought the whole thing and was just giving you my thoughts while analyzing the details I'm such a nerd I'm sooo sorry I hope you can forgive me for that

I art appreciate as well, but "being able" runs on both sides of the family -- so I am trying to cultivate a link to a friendly muse ... so I can give it a go myself. I am taking 3D intro course at the Art Institute, (too pricy, but was the only place close right now). It broke my art block, and that is a good thing!!
Don't berate yourself .. it is good to see and learn, and etc, it is what we are here for (besides making money and paying taxes, and all the other things we find so important!)!
You chose a wonderfully beautiful medium to point your attention at, that is for sure, and Clap-san is one of the best I have ever seen ...
