These tasty little shortbread bars with a crumble topping are great to use with fresh or frozen fruits and can also be made with raspberries, blueberries and other such fruits too. Perfect for lunchboxes, cake sales and for every day treats.I made these last week using fresh blackcurrants from the school vegetable garden where I volunteer at for all the kids in gardening club, they all loved it.

Ooooh, these look so good! Β I'm not the biggest fan of blackcurrant (it seems to be the flavour of squash I always ended up drinking when I was ill as a child so it's possibly to do with that), but these would tempt me - they look amazing! Β I've never heard of shortbread with a crumble topping, either. Β Very original!

I never see blackcurrants in the shops to buy which is surprising really as they are so tasty.Β A few months ago I bought my own blackcurrant bush for my garden,Β it's only little at the moment so no fruit this year.
