Description I wanted something light, romantic and yes definitely happy. Bella Notte is the song from Lady and the Tramp and though it is Italian, it was the song that inspired me in this piece. Of course La Isla Bonita was my inspiration for the Senorita, I love Madonna. I wanted something really really simple yet very romantic.

I was inspired and challenged to make a piece with a monochromatic background, like Pascal Campion, he is one of the artists I idolize. I love how he makes these beautiful pieces, simple and uncomplicated.

I hope you like it.

Overall

Technique

Impact

Overall the mood is charming, the colours are well balanced and soothing. However, I think that in certain instances, we see crisp edges... in the figures and in some of the windows as well as the circular yellow bulbs in the top of the composition; then we see looser shapes for some of the windows.

I would offer that using one technique (loose or crisp) would lend a greater sense of overall balance. Perhaps crisp for all the primary elements and loose for the secondary elements?

The gentleman is standing a bit too close (or too far away) from the tree in the foreground, it creates a visual tangent when we see elements so close but not touching. Sometimes this can be effective, for example if the mans hand was just about to touch the woman's, it would lend an added degree of tension...

The leaves look a bit too digital, as if you used the brush tool with the leaves setting...

My favourite aspect of the image is the folds on the clothes, the subtle changes in the mans vest are great! The palette is also spot on. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Wink)"/>

Thank you, yes you are right, I am trying new techniques. it seems the crisp and loose don't mix. I was really trying to be loose since I noticed that my style tend to be a bit on the crisp side. I admire these artists who can render loosely and still come up with great artworks.

Noted maybe I should move the tree a bit further. The leaves yes I used the brush tool maybe I should tweak that too.

Thank you for such a constructive critique, I totally appreciate it. I will revise the artwork accordingly.

I agree with TonyDennison, my critique again centers on the folds -- looks stiff not flowing especially on the lady. The white lace looks like corrugated cardboard. As far as mood is concerned, NAILED IT!

Nice! You're doing something here with paths...? It looks different than most digital art.

I'm Okay... I'm doing various odd jobs to make money, moving furniture, working at a junkyard and so forth. It's meant the worst for creating art, though.

You should try to find the artist in you, be strong nobody will be strong and know you better than you. I know it is hard, hell I fail thousand of times whenever I battle with myself, but if the fight is there there'll come a time when you will win. Win as in will be creating art once more and have your creative mojo back.

I'm here for you.

I was inspired to do a monochromatic background piece much like my idol-- Pascal Campion. I love his art.

He's my favorite artist too! Great choice for the background. It really gives a sense of depth and allows the characters to pop.
