Description

This is the second piece I did for the exhibition “Unseen Westeros”. I had the honour to be part of this great project which will take place in Berlin.

on the adobe page you will find a making of :

The main idea behind this exhibition is to show all the beautiful places of Game of Thrones we couldn’t see in the series. Me and over 40 artists worked on this ambitious project.

We are still in the middle of the Kickstarter campaign. If you want to help and grab an artbook with all the 80 artworks of all artists, you can do so here: kck.st/2PPpcIg

This is gorgeous. However it's a bit distracting when I see that some of the key structures in the foreground and background look like copy-pasted real world equivalents. Would've been better if like in the series this had a more unique architectural look and style rather than just inserting famous buildings from around the world.

Thanks, I get your point. I tried to mix both, real and invented buildings. It was very important to me to convey the feeling of an existing city. My overall base and the structure of the city is unique as I build it in 3D. Since you mentioned the series, that is mostly the same approach. Just search for Kings Landing and Dubrovnic to see what I mean. But thanks for your feedback, really appreciate it.

Just to clarify, I am aware that King's Landing is shot in Dubrovnic, and the old town does fullfil the role of a rich and old coastal city with a warm Mediterranean feel, although the city walls clearly built to house canons that the show and books have none are a distraction from anyone remotely versed in Medieval fortifications, gotta mention those towers on the main castle too, really ugly deisngs IMHO.
Its just I examine this and see minarettes from Cairo and mosques from Turkey mixed with romanesque sculpture and Indian architecture.

This person who worked on the DVDs for GoT did a marvelous job I recommend going over his work:

Good luck with your future ventures.
