Description The FMA IA-58 Pucará is a turboprop powered ground attack aircraft which entered service with the Argentine Air Force in 1975.

The Pucará saw action in the 1982 war, and it was the only aircraft with a short enough landing run to be able to land at Port Stanley airfield.  The Pucará was also employed by the air forces of Colombia, Sri Lanka, and Uruguay.

The Pucará is armed with 2 x 20mm cannon, 4 x 7.62mm machine guns, and has 3 hardpoints for bombs, rockets, or torpedoes.

This example is an IA-58A of 1 Squadron Uruguayan Air Force 1991.

Thank you!

Propeller aircraft still have a place in modern combat - they are very good for slow-flight designs, and are much more efficient on fuel, so can hang around the battle for longer....
