Here I shall tell you a tale of days past, of ancient glories!

Dragonborn, Ysmir of Skyrim, Legate of the Empire. Nightingale of Nocturnal. Wielder of Auri-El's bow, champion of the Dawnguard. His names were many, carried by many years upon an inquisitive brow, known to his friends as Clef Cross.

His tale had begun much earlier; in the days of the Oblivion Crisis, as the chosen to Uriel Septim's mysteries, to wield the Amulet of Kings! In his quest to be seen favorably by the Nine, he sought the relics of the Holy Crusader, Pelinal Whitestrake, in order to combat the horror of the Unfeathered Sorcerer-King.

These were the days of the Third Era, where many miracles were said to occur. The men and women at arms surrounding this man considered him the Whitestrake Reincarnate, where he would for days slip into a dream-like madness, speaking of memories that could not have been his, delving into a prowess of battle no man should possess. And in his final battle with Umaril the Unfeathered, he was blessed by the Ninth Divine, our lord Talos, to follow him to the skies to slay his very soul!

It was said that when the fighting in the Sorcerer-King's hall was done, Cross' body had lain dead with their foe, and he was placed in the crypt of his order's priory. His very soul had departed to do his battle, and had returned victorious, alive once more.

Then passed the battle with Mehrunes Dagon, the Daedra Lord. Then the Great War. And now, over a century after his famous battle with the Unfeathered, our lord Talos is outlawed by his very Empire to preserve peace. Cross, passing from tale to tale, was burdened with Immortality by the Nine to carry the will of the Whitestrake and Talos, the mantle of mankind.

Here, glory and honor were heaped upon his name, and many stories were made -- but that is for another time.
