I'd always seen Leon as having a similar reaction including a subsequent mental breakdown in reaction to Claire's death much in the same way Dukat had one after the death of his daughter Ziyal in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Him, huddled in a corner absent mindedly talking like he's talking to Claire.
