Actually Misty did a dream or a goal. She wanted to everything about water Pokemon and become the greatest water Pokemon master in the world.

She was my favorite character, once she left I completely stopped watching Pokemon.
I saw myself in her, she was a tomboy and didn't take anything from anyone. haha X'D
She did have a dream, her dream was to become a master water pokemon trainer.
She also had episodes dedicated to her, like the one with her and Marill, or the ones where she entered the water pokemon trainer tournament.
Not the mention the one where her sisters force her to be the mermaid in their underwater play ( I love that one! ).
As for my thoughts on the other girls...well like I said before I didn't watch it so I can't make any assessments about them.
I've tried watching a few episodes of the newer stuff but to me it just lacks the pure charm and quirkiness the original Pokemon had so I find it rather unappealing.

Well I think you might be trying to analysis it too much my friend, if you still like the show then that is good for you, but some people just don't find the newer stuff appealing.
Some people are going to like certain characters and some are not, it's just the way things go because everyone is different. ^-^
I would not say she abused him...you are taking it a little far aren't you? I mean Brock popped Misty on the head that episode when she was going to tell that bulbasaur lady how he felt about her. And Ash has tried to flick her nose right back that episode she was going to flick his, but then Nurse Joy stopped them. And there are episodes where Brock had popped Ash as well.
I viewed it as they all three felt like brothers and sister, so naturally they were going to be rough with each other. Me and my siblings get the same way sometimes. hahah X'D
Whether we just like generation 1 or love all generations, I think that it's important to remember that we are all fans of Pokemon and love it.

This is beautiful art and that batmansdaughter02 person clearly doesn't have room to speak. Wants to call out Misty for stuff that didn't happen or attack her over things they can't remember ("she didn't have a dream or a goal", "I can't remember a single episode dedicated to her", "all she did was be mean to Ash and have constant mood swings"). Never mind the fact that, without her presence by the river Ash jumped in after leaving Pallet Town, he would have DIED. And if he'd somehow made it, he would have died in the second movie because she was the only swimmer strong and motivated enough to find him out in the frigid waters off of Shrine Island.
This person outright admits that they can't remember anything about Misty and is one of those silly cliche haters who wants to reduce her to one or two commonly stated bad traits. I guess they missed the multiple times she saved Ash's life ("Pokemon, I Choose You"; "Pokemon: The Movie 2000"), had his back ("Pokemon Emergency"; "The Challenge of the Samurai"; "Pokemon the 3rd Movie"), was the one to seek him out and offer good advice when he was feeling down ("Battle Aboard the SS Anne"; "Bye Bye Butterfree"; "The Rivalry Revival"), inspired him to win a gym battle he was on his way to losing ("Misty Meets Her Match"), concerned herself with his safety and chased after him ("Challenge of the Samurai"; "The Tower of Terror"; "Pokemon: The Movie 2000"; "Forest Grumps") and yes, hold him accountable for the times when his ego was running amok with snarky one liners (way too many times to narrow down, but admittedly more during the Kanto/Orange Islands adventures than in Johto).
OS Ash was no angel. Perhaps this person is too busy getting caught up in XY's cardboard cutout cookie version that had next to no personality or humanity in him. What a lot of people like this choose to ignore or else do their best to forget is that HE GAVE AS GOOD AS HE GOT. He was equally stubborn, equally insulting, equally brash towards her.
Oh, yes, and Misty slapped Ash TWICE in OS and both times were for good reasons. First, she thought the guy had killed his Pikachu (um, hello, animal slaughter), and then he was so busy trying to look like a hotshot that he sent a bug-type out to face a flying-type, incidentally almost killing his newest Pokemon (animal abuse, second offense after Pikachu btw). Boom. She slapped him because he wouldn't listen to reason (he was too busy telling her he knew what he was doing). Any other instance of violence was slapstick comedy, which was common in the 90's era of cartoons. But you know what else she did? Immediately back off of Ash when she found him again at the Pokemon Center in Viridian, after he stole and destroyed her bike, because he indicated to her that Pikachu was in surgery and he was really concerned. So SHE was also really concerned. And this is also the girl who, two or so days into knowing him, said to herself that she'd, "never met anyone like him before," the same girl who thought he might be in danger 'cause some sword-wielding kid was in the market of taking on any kid who'd started their journey from Pallet Town, so she chased Ash down and dragged him away from potential harm. She didn't even LIKE him at this point, but she still concerned herself with him.
Oh, and if you're in the market for some good Misty episodes, how about some of these? "The Waterflowers of Cerulean City", "The Misty Mermaid", "Tentacool and Tentacruel", "Princess Vs Princess", "Misty Meets Her Match", "For Crying Out Loud", "Gotta Catch Ya Later". This isn't even all of them; they're just the ones I remember the most.
Honestly, it's really annoying to hear sorry excuses from people like this who ignore a character's actual worth. I don't like certain characters much but that doesn't mean I'm blind to their skills, merit, goodness! And I apologize for going on about this, but I could honestly combat basically everything this person said because, as they themselves outright told us, they couldn't even piece enough memory of Misty together to remember her canonical dream, couldn't even remember one episode dedicated to her. It just goes to show they know nothing about her other than what crappy lies/half-truths antis spread.

I remember actually recently seeing the episode where she left (I don't know why, but at some point me and my bro stopped watching Pokemon which was dumb, I enjoy all the episodes with the good dub we missed!) Gosh that episode...I like how it confirmed them, though. And she did come back in one of the Advanced episodes. But still...

If she wasn't going to be in it then my interest was gone.

Misty left Ash to return to the gym is almost similar to Bo Peep having left the Woody after be sold in yard sale. I miss her so much!

Yeah! When I watch Toy Story 3 and Rex mentioned that Bo Peep was gone and Woody was devastated, made me remember the good times when Ash had Misty as his traveling companion (and a girlfriend) and when she left, he was devastated, similar as Woody when Bo Peep was sold in a yard sale.
