last rays of the sun over the beautiful lancashire countryside near my home, just before the heavens opened late one summers evening

Breathtakingly ominous, the houses look a little like tiny clustered tombstones.

I am not a very religious person...thus there are few pictures out there that evoke thoughts pertaining to god(s). THIS is one of those photos...beautiful not only for the perfect sense of timing with the clouds and lighting, but for the natural beauty you captured of the landscape itself. It makes me want to visit this very spot at least once in my life, so that I can sit there for a whole day and night to take in the raw beauty. I'm convinced that it would somehow make me feel like I was one with Mother Nature.

Very well done. Your chosen "final exposure" has done it full justice and it makes a change to see HDR technique applied with good common sense. Lovely shot overall .... maybe you should be trying a few more like this?

yeah i tried to keep the exposure to be very much like my eye saw it, it was rather dark and dramatic that evening 
i do try my hand at landscapes sometimes but my heart is in portrait work i'm afraid
