...trying to draw an owl like this for my friend...and...how do you do the feathers?/hair O.o

I used very sharp pencils, from H2 to B4, so I could draw every little line in a lot of different thicknesses, and I used a blending tool for the smudges.

H2 B4? >< idk what that means....idk what a blending tool is, I just used my fingers to smudge it up, tried to make it very detailed like yours but I kept failing and it took too long for 1/4 of the face...so I cheated and gave the face direction while I just drew a bunch of lines in one direction for the body and head and smudged it up :3

FINALLY finished...took me a while...and my details are no where nears yours and I keep messing up so therefore I took the..quitter's way out, I drew a bunch of lines and smudged it out so it retains some direction
