Description
Again thanks to EleonorVonCarter for helping me!
The phone rang late at night. Alphys had finally fallen asleep, after so many days of incessant work teying to fix her work: Mettaton, a robot with a soul. She was extremely proud of it, but the thought of showing it to the world and being judged made her feel anxious and frightened. She was working on it as she had never done with anything else, but the bugs to fix were always many, they seemed to never end, and Mettaton was more and more impatient to get the body Alphys had promised him.
"Who is ...?", she replied, in a sleepy voice, after finding the phone with difficulty in the dark.
"IT'S ME, DOCTOR !!", it was Mettaton. "THE HARD DISK IS GIVING ME PROBLEMS AGAIN! IT SEEMS THAT IT REFUSES TO LET MY FABULOUS ROBOTIC LEGS MOVE NOW!"
"I see, Mettaton ...", murmured Alphys, almost without understanding what he was saying. "Tomorrow I'll fix it ..."
"NO !!", shouted Mettaton, smashing her eardrum, "YOU WON'T WANT ME TO WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW, WILL YOU?! I HAVE A SHOW AND THE NIGHT TESTS!"
Alphys hung up annoyed saying she would come. She remembered that he said to Mettaton "n-no shows!", but they were useless words with him.
She dressed up in the first shirt she found, next to the giant poster that Mettaton had hang at the wall and the pile of anime videos that she had to put aside for study and projects.
She picked up the phone and began to call Doctor Gaster, her supervisor, insistently on the way to the lab. He didn't answer, but Alphys wasn't surprised at all, and she knew that most likely he wasn't sleeping, but he was in the laboratory working on some machinery, or perfecting his legendary dt extractor.
She saw him as a great example. After all, he was a prodigious scientist, a monster of many qualities, and that was all she ever wanted to be since she was a tiny bean who played with the little chemist.
Once she entered the lab, she immediately heard Gaster's phone ring. She tried to figure out where it was, but that sound didn't seem to come from anywhere. She hung up and started looking for him and calling his name out laud, so that he could help her fix this last annoying bug.
Alphys heard a strange metallic sound coming from the wall, like the crack of a door. She noticed something with surprise, an almost imperceptible detail. In the usual iron and metal wall, there seemed to be a door!
Alphys had never seen it before, probably she wouldn't even have noticed it if she hadn't looked closely, and perhaps it would have been much better for her sanity. Curiosity and fear were devouring her. All she did was wonder what was behind it ...
She was breathless for a moment, then she saw him. Gaster.
He was there, standing by an operating table, and next to him, there was... Alphys almost spewed, she couldn't believe what she had in front of him, she couldn't believe at who was lying on that table on the verge of a painful death. She looked at Gaster for a moment, as if she was looking for a logic explanation, just long enough to see his evil smile. Before he could say anything she turned around and ran away, with her heart in her throat. She immediately decided that she could not pretend anything, even if she was terrified, she would never close her eyes again if she did not go to the king immediately. When she had seen them... on the table, she understood that there was probably nothing more to do, than informing the king and queen. It would be a useless suffering, but they deserved to know. They deserved truth and justice after all those months of desperate searcing. She ran into the throne room with tears in her eyes, screaming, almost unable to articulate her words. She tried to calm down, while accompanying the king to the lab, but to no avail. Even when he screamed in anger telling her to call Toriel, she could barely move her legs. She ran and ran, without stopping, returned to the castle and told the queen that she had to go to her husband immediately!
She accompanied her with difficulty, out of breath, then, once at the laboratory, she realized that chaos had broken out. Suddenly it had been filled up with people, everyone was running from side to side. It seemed that a fire had broken out on the upper floor. The substance had begun to destroy everything, and there was no trace of Gaster or the King. She rushed from mettaton, grabbing him, and remained so, in a corner of the laboratory, clinging to him on the floor. Mettaton screamed asking what had happened, trying to bring her back to reality with its high pitched screams, but Alphys could no longer say a word.
In this AU, Alphys just created Mettaton, she's a little frustrated with him sometimes, because he has a few bugs and problems she needs to fix... But sadly she was never able too. And I made Mettaton small because, I thought it looked better honestly also because Alphys is still working on him and stuff.
Alphys was Gaster's assistant in this AU, or rather a scientist in training if you will, she always looked up to him and wanted to be just like him one day (man, she probably now wishes she ever thought that) and he was a big inspiration to her.
A bit younger than undertale Alphys, considering she and many others died back when Chara and Asriel were still alive.
She died by being slammed into Mettaton by the substance that was rapidly spreading and killing everything throughout the underground, causing both Alphys and Mettaton's vengeful spirit to mix in some way, also causing Frisk to have to free two souls in one battle.
