Ok, so i didn't really like how the original design came out...
He just.... Had too much going on with his design... So here's his redesign!
I think it looks WAYYYY better!

He's a demon who had his soul shattered thousands of years ago, with the remaining fragments sealed deep into the earth...

The "substance" Gaster injects into Chara and destroyed the underground is actually the remaining fragments of his shattered soul!

He is GINORMOUS, Bigger than Corrupted Chara! in fact, that's why Corrupted Chara is so huge.

He is actually the one taking over Chara's mind and soul, acting sort of like a conscious to them, incouraging them to kill and destroy, along with destroying their self-esteem, mocking them, and belittling them as a little voice in their head, until their soul is corrupted enough to were he can start to take control of them.

He is using Chara as a host.

The soul you see in the middle of his chest is Chara's soul. He only has this design detail in his battle, because he basically takes their soul captive, hints why it has a lock on it.

Begins to take control of Chara in Chara's battle (but you know that already).

Wants to destroy and kill ALL LIFE ON EARTH (and almost succeeds as Chara begins to destroy the surface when they take Gaster and the other 6 human souls).

Because of Gaster, he has a soul to use (Chara's) and can finally finish what he always wanted, and he will make sure NOTHING will stop him, not this time...

His soul fragments are why Corrupted Chara looks the way they do.

Is the TRUE final battle.

Because of Chara's soul, he now has the ability to be determined, something he failed to have long ago when his soul shattered.

I am leaving what destroyed his soul and his origins up for you to deside! use your creativity!

although I know the real answer, I'll give a little bit away to interest you,

* absorbing souls has been done before, many many Many years before Chara's plan, thousands in fact, but the idea and every record of it has been sealed away due to its power and for the safety of others. The reason Chara even came up with their plan in this AU, is because they stumbled upon one of those papers*

And so that's basically what you need to know about him
