I love them too (when I'm not creeping on the ground...) ... I never saw this one before though. They are really big. Flower is about 5-8 centimeters.Β  Aaah, you're Scottish ...

Thanks ! It's called the Saint Mary's Thistle. Seems to be a healing plant, especially for people with liver problems...
