Rupert Thorne, The first major villain Hope ever faced, And even today, The simple mentioning of his name brings terror and images of a bygone era. Rupert Thorne was the head of his own self-named corporation, The Thorne Corp was dedicated to advancing military technology, To the point of where Thornes robots and weapons are still used in the military to this day despite their disconnection. It wasn't long 'till Rupert decided it was time to show what he can REALLY do, Rupert is a biologist above all else, And he claims that he knows the secrets to make any human a hero of unbelievable proportions. Despite his pleas and such, This form of science was shunned by all those he approached, Forcing him to make his research personal. He funded his research personally, And had to buy test subjects himself (Human ones mind you) It wasn't long until after seeing Hope Kimberly that he knew what he needed... He must kidnap the young hero and extract the DNA from her watch in order to create an army of half alien/half human soldiers, Ones who could win any war, Ones who could assure any victory and possibly ensure peace... Through terror.
For years, Rupert sent robot after robot, Soldier after soldier, Heck, He practically had his own army to himself. And yet... No matter what he sent, He couldn't beat a half pint prepubescent little girl. To say that Rupert got desperate would be a SERIOUS understatement, He spent all of his funds, He was making his work off of unpaid debts and deals with the mafia. Of course, Even that couldn't keep him afloat forever, So what was once desperateness soon became madness, Rupert poured the best of his research into his own daughters, Turning them into his best soldiers... And then turned himself into the ultimate general, The fearful and unfeeling Flame War. Of course, Iconically and unforgettably, Rupert was defeated by Hope and her team, And Rupert was arrested. Now Rupert spends his days in a maximum security prison cell, And he's been there ever since. He now wears a special suit that makes him unable to use his fire manipulation powers, The suit is constantly venting out smoke to make sure Rupert doesn't choke himself and to this day, Rupert still vows to find a way out... But beyond that, Nobody knows what plans lie within that maniacal brain of his.
