Description another piece up on etsy...

this brooch is made from a highly decorated pocketwatch that had seen better days. Luckily the beautiful finish on it survived. The patterning - is called "damaskeening" - is just wonderful: very clear and ornate. I chose a dragon to go with it becaue it almost looks like scales

Now many dragon's reach for pearls but this dragon has its eye on a lovely piece of garnet bead. I've surrounded the bead with some tiny screws to give it some stability and in the hole is a very -very very - small gear piece.

I chose some brass coloured wheels to give the brooch some elements of colour. There is a Second Wheel, a Main Wheel... and a wonderful Escape Wheel.

Okay I left you a comment about 5 minutes ago on your fly me to the moon thing but I take it back. This has to be the most amazing thing ever.

You are incredible, I can't get over how much I adore the things you make.

wow thank you so much for the comment! I was trying to echo the patterning of the back of the pocket watch - the damaskeening - to the dragon - so it has "scales"

You're welcome! [: And yes, I noticed that. It's really clever. I don't exactly browse jewelry a lot but I haven't really seen anything like it used in just that way before. It fits really well.

That dragon is seriously awesome and made of win. I'd buy this myself if I wasn't a broke little booger. ((Spends all her money on books))

oooh i love books.
i'm saving all my pennies for a new camera though. and have to take The Cat to a vet... i suspect dental work will be needed in the future. Gods 'n' Demons know what that will costs. more than I could make selling jewelry for sure.

^^ My mum hates going into bookstores with me, seeing as how I always make her buy me books. In my defense, they're always paperbacks! XD

I've been thinking of trying to save for a violin, if I ever get around to playing with my friend's. It'll take me a while D: Aww, kitty! I hope everything turns out all right in that respect! ((Is a sucker for cats))
