Charcoal on paper. This piece is intended to express the cleansing release from rain, a shower, etc (thought I can absolutely appreciate the variety of ways it can be interpreted haha). Personally, I have struggled with depression and anxiety during periods of my life. When these start to get the better of me, or just having a particularly bad day, one thing I have noted in my behavior is the increased length of time I spend in the shower. There is something healing about the way water feels, as if it can wash away the feelings or at least provide a warm gentle envelope while you feel them. I believe there is also a psychological element ingrained given civilization has tended to emerge around water as a necessary resource, so perhaps there is a reptilian brain element of how closeness to water indicates a sense of security.

Much of my art is currently in a highlight on IG @Clockwork.Oregano but I intend to lean into posting process and fully developed pieces moving forward.
