I am very fond of this. Probably because I've spent countless hours folding those cranes and other random novel origami things in various science classes over the years. But those days are long gone... Ah, to reminisce.

The hair movement in the first half really makes this for me. Also the way you rendered the eye is top notch. The hatching on the crane also adds really interesting texture to the values, I like it very much.

This is completely amazing. I've been so behind on looking at your art-I apologize. Your works always have a meaning behind them, maybe something different for everybody. I'm glad that you can share this with the world.

Oh my God!
This is so beautiful. This is your best. no doubt.
For one thing, the details on the eyeball are so amazing they can only be matched by the strokes made by the eyebrow and strands on the far left... so beautiful!
I also like the concept with the paper folding on the right. Really cool. You're a fantastic artist

That crane looks amazing.
Did you base it off anything, or are you just godly at spacial perceptive tasks?

I really dig the eyebrow also.

x.

That paper crane is something else. It very closely resembles a photograph, that's how intensely real it looks. The shading in this piece is to die for.

I've always loved pictures with red strings attaching objects or people, and I really enjoy the way the string here is looped so delicately and naturally. The eye too looks fantastic; so much shine and so well done, even zoomed in like that.

aeromachia [2008-12-29 21:26:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh look at that! Absolutely amazing. I am so pleased to have inspired you <3
The loops of string look so natural (shadows are perfect) and the way they criss-cross the two images and overlap the border is just lovely. The red-on-monochrome is also really effective, is it an intentional reference to the notion of the "red strings of fate"? Either way it works beautifully! I love those paper cranes, though I have always failed at origami XD

wouldn't have happened without you.
thanks a lot!
yeah, i was introduced to the concept through Gina Biggs' webcomic Red String when i was like, 15; so i love using red string in my pieces
oh, me too, a good friend of mine makes me paper cranes every once in a while whenever we're bored in class.
i haven't tried to do it myself quite yet, though
