Description Screenshot of MyPaint on Linux LMDE on my Asus EP121 Slate tablet with built-in Wacom.

Pen is not as accurate as a standard pen tablet, there is timing lag and parallax. The former of which neither Wacom nor Asus will deal with.

Other than that, it's a fine machine for digital sketching.

I pull MyPaint from GIT, so this is the latest development version.

Wow, that's the new MyPaint? I should really start using it again. Nice painting, BTW. And nice to see another Linux user out there. ^^

Thanks for the compliment!

MyPaint is improving in many useful ways. Though I do wish Gimp had more flexible artsy brushes and MyPaint had more editing features (box select, cut, paste, scale).

I use MyPaint for initial sketches, then use Gimp 2.7 to adjust the perspectives, reposition, etc. Then back to mypaint for the painting. Then back to Gimp for formatting. It's a pain, but Gimp 2.7git can import/export MyPaint files easily.

I started using Linux in 1994! (Though I still keep a Winders partition around for specific games.) Keep on Linux'ing!

You're welcome!

So GIMP 2.7 supports ORA? That's an improvement.

Since 1994?! Wow, you're like a veteran! I mostly grew up on Windows, and only started using Linux since 2009. My first distro was Ubuntu (version 9.04, I think). Now I've grown completely attached to Linux. I still keep Ubuntu around, since a fair amount of Linux stuff is Ubuntu-specific, but my favorite distro as of now is Fedora.

Yes, .ora is fully supported in Gimp 2.7! Though Gimp seems to be having problems with Wacom... :/

All good distro's. If you want to learn Linux well, try Arch or Gentoo. It's a bit more work, but a good way to learn. (Though time consuming.)

email me at gmail if you'd like to chat more Linux...

I've resolved to try Arch at some point or another, but I still haven't found time for it yet.

Sure, if I ever feel like chatting more, I'll try to remember to email you.

Nicely done mate!
To bad the slate wasn't shipped with linux, guess that's why asus nor wacom cares about lags and such huh?

Thanks, your sketches are cool, too. (+watch)

The Asus EA800 is based on Linux, but not available in the US.

Still, there's a market for a portable color sketchbook (artpad) with wacom pen. (Preferably Linux + MyPaint based )
