And this season had the princesses getting their cutie marks swapped along with Daybreaker.Β Impressive.
But what I loved about this episode?Β Despite the constant war of words with the Pears, Granny Smith still accepted Pear Butter into the Apple family.Β Despite everything, she cared for her son and completely ended her rivalry with the Pears when Pear Butter got denounced by her father.Β Granny Smith may be a lot of things, as a pigheaded old pony, but she isn't cold-hearted.Β And this scene sealed it.

Ever since I saw the episode, I've been convinced that the real reason Granny has been so angry with the Pears is because she could not forgive Grand Pear for hurting Pear Butter so badly. To an Apple, the happiness of your family comes before all other things so rejecting his daughter for following her heart was something Granny found incomprehensible.
She had to learn just how much it had cost Grand Pear himself to forgive him.
