Andromeda, bored with revising her notes while at her tutoring session with Starlight, and pesters her friend Hocus Pocus to go snoop in her mother's magical artifact box. Pokey knows the solution to the lock from watching her mother open it, and reluctantly opens it. Andromeda soaks up that sweet sweet forbidden magical stuff, and her eyes are drawn to a thick dust-covered book partially under a stack of notes.

She flips through it, ignoring the Many notices that this book was for studying and the spells inside should not be casted.

She finds one that seems simple enough, a spell for making a unicorn's power stronger. Taking a lock of her mane and muttering the spell, she feels her body lifting off the ground, feels her mouth continuing to chant without her control, feels her body surge with magic- and then she feels nothing at all.

This is the scene that Starlight walks into, just checking in on the kids and seeing what they wanted for lunch when she sees her daughter cowering in fear and her student possessed by Evil Magic. Luckily for all involved, the book was still open to the spell used and Starlight had been studying counterspells, so she was able to stop the spell from being completed.

After giving both girls a hug and a stern talking too, she goes to Twilight's house to talk about Andromeda's behaviour once and for all.
